RN - Registered Nurse - Cardiac Recovery

This role is 40 hours weekly on the night shift. Hours may be a combination of 4, 8, and 12-hour shifts from 7p - 7a, plus every other Saturday from 7a - 11a.

Responsibilities

  • Completes assessments as established by scope of practice and unit standards.
  • Addresses physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patient and family throughout the continuum of care.
  • Documents all assessment and care provided in the electronic medical record.
  • Formulates, coordinates, and provides care as established in unit standards, including patient and family education, family needs, and discharge planning throughout hospitalization with members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Provides direct patient care including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies according to policy and procedure.
  • Prepares patients for procedures, including initial patient assessment, procedure site prep, insertion of intravenous lines, and patient education.
  • Provides post-procedural care, including patient assessment, monitoring of vital signs and procedural site, patient education, and ensuring discharge criteria are met and communicated to advanced practitioners and physicians.
  • Makes assignments in collaboration with other team members and directs/alters assignments in response to changes in patient situations.
  • Delegates based on skill, expertise, time availability of the team member, acuity, and needs of the patient.
  • Problem-solves, troubleshoots, and takes corrective measures in care and handling of equipment.
  • Provides input to the manager for performance appraisal in the area of goal development and peer performance.
  • Assumes responsibility for identifying processes or systems that could potentially lead to errors and adverse events.
  • Precepts new staff as required.
  • Performs appropriate billing for services rendered or equipment used as related to the Cardiac Recovery Suite.
  • Provides support to clinical trials and research projects.
  • Monitors conscious sedation patients until recovery is complete.
  • Assists in the development of educational programs and procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a specialty training program in nursing (Required).
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience (Required).
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - RN_State of Pennsylvania.
  • Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification required within 6 months.
