About the role
Geisinger is proud to offer a full-time Inpatient RN position with a hiring incentive of up to $24,000 for eligible candidates. The minimum hiring rate is $41.50, with increased rates for experienced individuals and up to $7 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, organize, perform, and evaluate nursing activities to meet patient needs.
- Promote adaptive responses of patient and family to achieve the highest level of care, safety, and satisfaction.
- Exhibit compassionate care during patient-nurse interactions.
- Coordinate patient care and staff interactions.
- Meet qualifications to provide care for patients in the assigned nursing unit.
- Ensure the best patient and family experience by optimizing all interactions.
- Complete assessments as established by scope of practice and unit standards.
- Address physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patient and family.
- Formulate, coordinate, and provide a plan of care, including patient and family education, family needs, and discharge planning with the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide direct patient care, including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies according to policy and procedure.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and revise the plan of care based on patient response.
- Initiate collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other interdisciplinary team members to proactively resolve and facilitate patient needs.
- Problem-solve, troubleshoot, and take corrective measures in the care and handling of equipment.
- Participate in unit-based decision-making regarding the utilization of evidence-based practice.
- Actively participate as a team member working toward unit and organizational goals and be accountable for unit and system-specific metrics.
- Participate in patient quality and safety education programs and other activities designed to improve departmental and organizational quality and safety.
- Perform work in a clinical environment and satisfy all job-specific obligations while complying with organization policies and procedures.
Position Details
Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital (GSACH) operates three advanced acute care locations within the hospital, functioning as one large unit. Responsibilities include caring for patients with acute exacerbations of chronic illness, new onset illnesses, and pre- and post-operative patients. The hospital provides a community environment with a team-oriented culture. Schedule is .9 FTE (36 hours), straight nights, with every other weekend and every other holiday rotation. Education
- Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Nursing (required).
Certification(s) and License(s)
- Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) – RN_State of Pennsylvania
- Basic Life Support Certification
