RN -Quality Registered Nurse

About the role

The purpose of this position is to coordinate interdisciplinary peer review activities of the MercyOne Medical Staff. This includes activities associated with FPPE (Focused Professional Practice Evaluation) and OPPE (Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation). The role also assists in quality initiatives related to the medical staff and coordinates external peer review services.

Responsibilities

• Retrieves data from hospital information systems including the EHR, Midas, and other databases.
• Conducts retrospective review of medical records for quality and safety reviews and peer review activities.
• Facilitates all peer review activities for each clinical department of the Medical Staff while working closely with the department chair, vice-chair, and/or quality chair.
• Facilitates interdisciplinary peer review meetings and other quality-related committee activities.
• Coordinates FPPE (Focused Professional Practice Evaluation).
• Coordinates OPPE (Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation).
• Celebrates External Peer Review Services per contracted agreements.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Possession of a current or compact state license as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa or Illinois.
• Five (5) Years Clinical Nursing Experience Required.
• Basic understanding of performance improvement principles, data sampling, data collection, data analysis, and hospitalization procedures and practices related to patient care and utilization of acute care and ambulatory services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
