RN – Progressive Pulmonary Care Unit

About the role

The Progressive Pulmonary Care Unit located on G91 is a high-acuity, 34-bed unit providing specialized care to patients with complex pulmonary needs. Our specially trained caregivers care for patients with conditions and therapies including asthma, ventilator and tracheostomy management, high-flow oxygen and BiPAP, post-lung transplant care, and pulmonary hypertension. This unique environment offers caregivers the opportunity to care for complex patients while developing a strong set of advanced clinical skills and expertise that can support future growth in other high-acuity settings, including ICU-level care.

Schedule

Day/night rotation: 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m., with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients with complex pulmonary needs in a high-acuity setting
• Implement, monitor, evaluate, update, and revise individualized patient care plans
• Monitor, record, document, and communicate patients’ conditions
• Administer prescribed medications, oxygen therapies, and other treatments
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs
• Educate patients and their families

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN program)
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• One year of current acute care RN experience OR military RN experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Physical Requirements

• Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
• Standing and walking for extended periods of time
• Corrected vision and hearing to normal range
• Working under stressful conditions and irregular hours
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids
• Medium Work: exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
• Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay

Pay range: $35.50 – $55.60 per hour. The pay range displayed reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after considering factors such as work history, experience, skill set, and education. The pay range does not include applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime) or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental and vision benefits, retirement savings account contributions).
