RN PRN - Main Endoscopy
Summary of Job Duties
The Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) will provide specialized care for patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures in a high-acuity academic medical center. This professional nursing role will require the ability to coordinate care for patients, triage patients, and work collaboratively with clinic providers, fellows, and staff. Requires the ability to effectively work with patient referral sources, facilitate appointments, coordinate transitions of care, and provide patient education on complex conditions. The RN will work with the individual patient, their families, and providers of care to develop and implement individual health plans. Provides direct patient care in the Endoscopy lab, serving in the roles in the procedural space, Preop, and PACU.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with an Associate's Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelor's in Nursing, or Master's in Nursing. Valid RN License. Minimum of one (1) year Registered Nursing experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) or more years of nursing experience.
Additional Information
- Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment to include N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).
Responsibilities
- Collections and documents assessment data from patients and/or others per UAMS standard.
- Develops patient's Plan of Care (POC) per department/unit standards utilizing assessment data.
- Evaluates the progress of patients toward attainment of desired outcomes.
- Administers medication following department/unit standards and Nurse Practice Act.
- Verifies and evaluates care delivered to ensure it is consistent with patient and family centered care principles, practice standards and regulatory requirements.
- Promotes an environment conducive to positive educational experience for all students and staff.
- Provides effective patient/family education/discharge planning.
- Effectively collaborates and communicates with nursing staff at all levels, interdisciplinary teams, executive leaders, and other stakeholders.
- Communicates care appropriately through documentation in the medical record.
- Reports variances in care/ systems/ processes through the appropriate means.
- Participates in recruitment/retention of staff.
- Facilitates development and implementation of nursing practice standards that are evidence-based and in compliance with ANA standards.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
