About the Role

The Registered Nurse is accountable for coordinating care for patients and their families, including direct care, patient and family education, and discharge planning. Following the nursing process—assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating—the RN delivers high-quality, patient-centered care while adhering to the ANA Scope of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and specialty standards.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs by gathering relevant health information and develop individualized care plans to achieve expected outcomes.
• Evaluate and adapt the plan of care based on patient progress toward outcomes.
• Provide safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while respecting privacy, dignity, and compassion for patients, families, and colleagues.
• Perform aseptic techniques, maintain infection prevention standards, and adhere to disinfection, sterilization, and infection control principles.
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals, and assist with procedures and patient transportation as needed.
• Participate in creating a learning environment through evidence-based practice and research, focusing on personal development and professional interactions.
• Mentor and educate colleagues and students, and engage in ongoing in-service and educational seminars.
• Adhere to regulatory and organizational standards, including hospital and departmental policies, to ensure patient safety and compliance.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, EMR entries, and patient responses.
• Report safety-related incidents promptly and participate in safety training to ensure a safe work environment.

Qualifications

• RNs hired on or after 7/1/2016 must graduate from a BSN program within 6 years of hire into an RN position.
• Active, unrestricted Arizona RN License or valid, participating compact license (Required).
• BLS certification (Required).
• ACLS certification (Required).
• PALS certification (Required within 90 days of hire).
