What You'll Help With

This position supports the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery section at Carilion Clinic. It focuses on reconstructive patients without cosmetic or aesthetic services. The RN will not float to the cosmetic center.

Responsibilities

• Consistently delivers high-quality care and customer service, demonstrating respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy.
• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care for patients of all ages, collaborating with the healthcare team and family members.
• Treats and administers medications accurately, documenting using automated systems and electronic medical records.
• Identifies and addresses the educational needs of patients and caregivers, incorporating them into the care plan.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and acts as a patient advocate.
• Applies knowledge of growth and development to care for patients of all ages.
• Works within clinical, leadership, and/or education pathways to ensure quality patient care and performance improvement.
• Manages resources, prioritizes tasks, and modifies the work environment to meet patient care needs.
• Completes projects within specified time frames and guidelines, using problem-solving methods to resolve workplace issues.
• Assists with employee orientation and provides feedback to staff.
• Contributes to unit, hospital, and system activities, facilitating staff participation in decision-making processes.
• Provides education activities for the unit and department.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing or an approved program eligible to take the VA licensure exam.
• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification required.
• May require additional certifications such as BLS, ACLS, PALS, or NRP based on specific work unit needs.
• Computer skills necessary for electronic medical record (EPIC) use.

What We Require
