RN - Post Partum Full Time Nights

About the Role

The Registered Nurse (RN) applies the nursing process and theories, along with principles of psycho-social and physical sciences, to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, evaluate, and modify patient care using evidence-based practices. The RN practices autonomously within professional nursing standards, the ANA Code of Ethics, and the ANA Bill of Rights, striving for quality outcomes and innovative practice in accordance with the Florida Nursing Practice Act and hospital/departmental policies. This role ensures care aligns with competency requirements for the area.

The RN is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others under their direction, participating in quality assurance or performance improvement initiatives. They provide collaborative care with other disciplines to ensure optimal, individualized patient outcomes. The RN takes a leadership role in coordinating the interdisciplinary team, enhancing patient outcomes, and acts as an educator to peers, patients, and families. They also identify and communicate unit resource or equipment needs for budget inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate patient care using evidence-based practices.
• Practice autonomously within professional nursing standards, ethical guidelines, and hospital policies.
• Ensure quality outcomes and innovative practice in alignment with the Florida Nursing Practice Act.
• Participate in quality assurance or performance improvement initiatives.
• Provide collaborative care with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
• Take a leadership role in coordinating care and enhancing team effectiveness.
• Act as an educator to peers, patients, and families.
• Identify and communicate unit resource or equipment needs for budget planning.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• BSN preferred or must be completed within 3 years of start date.
• Current RN licensure in the state of Florida.
• Two years of Post Partum experience.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association for healthcare providers.
• NRP Certification from the American Heart Association.
• National Certification in Specialty within 2 years of hire date preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Stooping, sitting, standing, and walking for long periods.
• Frequently assisting with lifting patients and heavy equipment.
• Ability to push/pull up to 40 lbs and carry/lift up to 50 lbs.
• Work in a stressful environment, independently making sound decisions.
• Detail-oriented, alert, and self-motivated.

Threshold Requirements

• Annual completion of Joint Commission mandatory education, in-service, and health requirements, including new employee orientation.
• Participation in the TB/PPD Surveillance Program.
• Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certifications.
