About the role
The Pre and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is a critical care unit within the hospital's Perioperative Services. This unit provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing anesthesia and recovering from surgery or procedures. As an RN on this team, you will deliver exceptional care, interact directly with patients and their families, and offer healthcare education as needed.
Responsibilities
- Deliver direct nursing care to patients in the PACU.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans based on medical orders.
- Maintain accurate records of patient conditions and communicate them effectively.
- Evaluate and update patient care plans to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to approved protocols.
- Educate patients and their families about their care and discharge needs.
- Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs.
- Monitor and manage pain levels for patients in the PACU.
- Address and manage post-anesthesia side effects.
- Ensure a safe and smooth recovery for patients before discharge or transfer to inpatient rooms.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing.
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
- One year of current acute care RN experience OR military RN experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Pay
- Minimum hourly rate: $35.50
- Maximum hourly rate: $55.60
Schedule
Days + on-call shifts from 5:30am - 10:00am to 4:00pm - 8:30pm, with a Saturday rotation and holiday requirements.
