RN, Pediatrics Outpatient Full-time Darien

In this role, you will coordinate and develop patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and provide supervision and mentorship for non-RN team members.

Schedule

• Monday: 7:30am–4:30pm
• Tuesday: 7:30am–5:00pm
• Wednesday: 7:30am–5:00pm
• Thursday: 7:30am–1:00pm
• Friday: 7:30am–4:30pm
• 1 Saturday per month: 8:30am–11:30am

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and develops patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and follows all established standards of practice within State and Federal guidelines.
• Provides supervision and mentorship of non-RN personnel.
• Serves as a resource to both staff and management in problem identification and resolution.
• Reviews schedules and organizes patient flow; greets patients, documents patient concerns and questions.
• Accompanies patient to exam/procedure room and prepares patients for physical exam.
• Conducts initial patient interview; reviews patient medical profile, history, and physical (H&P) and documents in EMR/manual charting as appropriate.
• Obtains and accurately documents patient vital signs, weight, and reports any abnormalities to physician.
• Assists with specimen collection and testing as necessary; documents pertinent information in EMR.
• Assists patients as necessary (e.g., walking, transferring, dressing).
• Provides minor treatment as directed by physician and assists physicians with minor procedures.
• Provides education as indicated after assessing the learning needs of the patient and/or family.
• Documents all patient-related activities.
• Schedules patient testing and pre-certifies if insurances require.
• Responds to all telephone messages (patient, physician offices, etc.).
• Performs end-of-month checks for expired supplies and medication.
• Stocks rooms and maintains inventory of exam/procedure rooms.
• Orders supplies as needed.
• Cleans the exam/procedure room and equipment after each patient.
• Prepares exam/procedure room for the next patient and physician needs.
• Notifies patients of test results (per physician instruction) and follow-up.
• Attends scheduled staff meetings, in-service education opportunities, and participates in continuing education programs.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Valid license as a Registered Nurse in Connecticut.
• BLS Certification.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Minimum of 2 years of previous experience in a similar position.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language.
