About the role

Perform direct patient care within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act, with emphasis on the pediatric acute and critically ill patient. The RN in the Super Pool will organize, implement, modify, evaluate, document and maintain the plan of care individualized, family centered, and holistic. The RN will maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, participate in MCCH initiatives and process improvement, and maintain high-quality age specific care for the neonatal, pediatric, adolescent and young adult population. The RN must be willing to switch shifts for periods of time based on the facility need and support the mission, vision and values of the organization.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree required; if hired after 06/01/2012, BSN required within 24 months of hire into RN position
  • Minimum of 3 years RN experience
  • 2 years of critical care type experience required with competency to float to other units within Tier 2 (PICU, CICU, NICU Level IC, Peds ED, Stem Cell Transplant for pediatric patients)
  • (RN) Registered Nurse license in the State of Texas or Compact license
  • Current AHA or ARC BLS provider
  • PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
  • Neonate Resuscitate (NRP) must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

Preferred qualifications

  • CCRN, CPEN, RNC-NIC, CPHON, and BMTCN preferred
