Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) coordinates patient care delivery by the health care team using the nursing process. They assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans to promote safe passage and improve patient outcomes.
Essential Functions of the Role
Clinical Judgment: Conducts accurate clinical assessments, identifies and prioritizes patient needs, and modifies the nursing plan of care based on patient responses.
Caring Practices: Creates a compassionate and supportive environment, manages emotional and physical pain, and advocates for patient and family rights.
Collaboration: Works collaboratively with colleagues and community to develop and implement an integrated plan of care, delegates tasks, and ensures timely follow-up.
Systems Thinking: Uses strategies and available resources for problem-solving, recognizes resource limitations, and considers safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in planning and delivering care.
Professionalism: Improves nursing practice and the work environment through participation in shared governance and professional development activities.
Key Success Factors
Knowledge of nursing and patient care standards and procedures.
Understanding of medical terminology, principles of health promotion, risk reduction, and illness management.
Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements relevant to nursing practice.
Interpersonal skills to interact with a wide range of constituencies.
Ability to communicate thoughts clearly, both verbally and in writing.
Requirements
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
RN – Registered Nurse license.
BLS – Basic Life Support certification (within 30 days of hire).
1 year of Med/Surg/Tele/PCU/IMCU RN experience.
