Schedule
- 12-hour day shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- 36 guaranteed hours per week (3 × 12-hour shifts)
- Weekend requirement: every 3rd weekend
- Holiday requirement: every other holiday
- Call: none
- Floating: yes, to areas within the nurse’s acuity and competency
Responsibilities
- Provide progressive-care nursing for high-acuity medical, respiratory, and cardiac patients
- Manage and monitor patients with chronic ventilators and tracheostomies
- Care for patients with chest tubes and feeding tubes
- Deliver post-procedure care following endobronchial valve replacement
- Continuously monitor respiratory, neurological, and hemodynamic status
- Recognize and escalate changes in patient condition
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent PCU experience (no exceptions)
- Strong progressive-care experience with high-acuity patients
- Experience caring for patients with:
- COPD
- Pneumonia
- Acute/chronic respiratory failure
- CHF
- Cardiac disorders
- GI disorders
- Kidney disease
- ETOH withdrawal
- Ventilator dependency

- Patient ratio: 1:3 to 1:4
- Unit size: 31–40 beds
- Charting system: Cerner
- Scrub color: navy blue
