About the Role

This Registered Nurse acts as the lead for patient flow within the Emergency Department, Grand Central Command, Nursing, and support departments; in partnership with providers to ensure appropriate patient placement for effective patient throughput. The Patient Flow Coordinator will work collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team to improve patient throughput and length-of-stay (LOS) performance of the organization.

This role requires excellence in organizational skills when managing multiple tasks, success in crisis management, and the ability to assimilate information quickly to produce sound decisions. The coordinator must recognize situations requiring immediate intervention, maintain current knowledge of healthcare economics, trends, and reimbursement methodologies, and apply this knowledge to daily practice.

The Patient Flow Coordinator demonstrates technical and clinical competence, serves as a clinical resource for staff, and ensures adherence to ICARE standards and Blessing Health Systems' Code of Conduct. This role requires effective two-way communication and problem-solving at both the unit and organizational levels, using data to drive decisions and promote high-quality care, workflows, and patient flow.

The RN Patient Flow Coordinator must be proficient in serving both the Emergency Department and Grand Central Command, adapting to fluctuations in census, acuity, patient needs, or team requirements. This role also requires a full operational understanding of EMTALA laws and compliance with every patient encounter.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an RN School of Nursing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Graduate of a Bachelor’s degree School of Nursing (BSN) or BSN obtained within two (2) years of hire
  • Current State RN license

Qualifications

Preferred:

  • Minimum of one (1) year acute care experience with the respective patient population within the last five (5) years

Pay status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
