About the Role

The Registered Nurse (RN) Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for performing assessments, collecting data, and collaborating with other members of the healthcare team in preparing and scheduling patients for surgeries, procedures, and post-operative care. This role ensures safe, effective, and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care to assigned patients, including education, treatment planning, pain management, and discharge planning.
  • Conduct, analyze, and report on quality indicators related to patient transitions from outpatient clinic status to post-procedure status.
  • Assist in developing and implementing measures to enhance patient care processes.
  • Interface with professional organizations and serve on committees related to surgical patient care quality, practice, and education.
  • Present quality statistics to appropriate groups and participate in interdisciplinary meetings impacting patient care.
  • Provide and coordinate patient care while minimizing infection, contamination, harm, or injury risks.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment in compliance with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on pre- and post-procedure care.
  • Serve as a resource for scheduling procedures, including financial and medical necessity requirements.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to prepare and schedule patients for surgeries, procedures, and post-operative care.
  • Ensure patient care aligns with established nursing practice standards and regulatory guidelines.
  • Interact with physician staff to identify specific surgical needs and potential barriers.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing OR Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited university.
  • 3+ years of experience as a practicing Registered Nurse (if Bachelor’s degree) OR 5+ years of experience (if Associate’s degree).
  • Current licensure by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas or proof of reciprocity.
  • Current JPS-recognized CPR Certification (must be maintained throughout employment).
  • Completion of unit-specific competency-based orientation program within 90 days.
  • Current JPS-recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (must be maintained throughout employment).

Preferred

  • 3+ years of experience as a practicing Registered Nurse in operating room, procedural, case management, or ambulatory care.

Schedule

  • Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
  • Day shift.
