Job Summary
Provides specialized care for newborns. Communicates with physicians about changes in the patient's clinical condition. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for the newborns, ensuring their well-being and supporting their families. Administers medications, provides infant care, assists with examinations, educates parents, and collaborates with other healthcare professionals.
Education Requirements
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Certification/Licensure Requirements
- Mississippi State Board of Nursing or compact state licensure as a registered nurse.
Experience
- Three years as an RN in a hospital nursery setting is required.
Language Skills
- English Required.
Reasoning Ability
- Must have the ability to apply non-judgmental reasoning capabilities whenever necessary when dealing with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Must have critical thinking and multitasking skills are a must.
- Must have reasonable reflective thinking focused on deciding what to believe or do.
- Must possess purposeful, self-regulatory judgment which results in interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and inference, as well as explanation of the evidential, conceptual, methodological, criteriological, or contextual considerations upon which that judgment is based.
