Responsibilities
- Affirms the needs of patients and families, providing appropriate teaching and making necessary referrals to ensure continuity of care.
- Develops an individual plan of care using a collaborative approach with the patient/family and healthcare team.
- Promptly completes documentation to ensure an accurate legal record of patient care.
- Delivers high-quality care utilizing the nursing process while demonstrating knowledge and clinical skills relevant to the specialty on the assigned unit.
- Maintains a holistic approach considering biopsychosocial, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the age of the patients and families served.
- Delegates and provides direction for other healthcare providers and holds them accountable for their involvement in the plan of care.
- Maintains responsibility and accountability for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients.
- Utilizes the Patient Family Centered Care model of care with the combination of the Katarine Kolcaba’s Comfort Theory.
- Continues professional development and involvement in professional activities that enhance nursing practice by sharing knowledge through networking and research.

Qualifications
- Must have completed an accredited nursing program and possess a valid nursing license.
- Minimum of two years of Medical-Surgical Experience required.
- Valid nursing license.
- Certifications to include: BCLS upon hire. ACLS and PALS upon hire or within 6 weeks of hire. 1 hour of stroke education to be completed by the end of orientation and then annually thereafter.
