Kaiser Permanente RNs deliver quality health care that aligns with the organization’s mission, vision, and values. This role provides a variety of nursing services—both in-person and by phone—using the nursing process and leadership skills to address acute and chronic needs of Health Plan members and other patients.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate personal commitment to service and socially relevant practice, adhering to Kaiser Permanente’s quality, care, and affordability standards.
- Act as an advocate for individuals, groups, and communities, demonstrating ethical and legal behavior in all professional activities.
- Utilize critical thinking and clinical judgment to problem-solve, applying analytical reasoning and verifiable information to address patient care needs.
- Provide culturally competent care, tailoring nursing practices and teaching materials to diverse populations.
- Apply leadership skills to facilitate effective team functioning, mentor new staff, and collaborate on quality standards and policies.
- Participate in population-based care activities, including outreach, health education, and self-management skill development for patients and groups.
- Demonstrate technological literacy, using computerized information systems for care provision, decision support, and continuous quality improvement.
- Provide evidence-based, clinically competent nursing care, planning and coordinating care across the continuum.
- Perform and modify therapeutic and preventive nursing measures, administer treatments and medications, and maintain a safe environment.
- Conduct triage and telephone advice independently, within the scope of Oregon and/or Washington Nurse Practice Acts.
- Document nursing care in compliance with standards, applying effective oral and written communication skills.
- Facilitate care coordination across settings, advocating for patients with unmet health needs and applying continuous improvement tools.
- Engage in ongoing continuing education, addressing personal and professional growth needs.
Requirements
- Minimum two (2) years of RN experience in acute care or ambulatory care/clinic setting within the last five (5) years.
- Minimum two (2) years of Critical Care experience within the last five (2) years.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; high school diploma or GED required.
- Active Registered Nurse License in Oregon.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required at hire.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 6 months of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Moderate Sedation Competency required within 6 months of hire.
- Demonstrated clinical nursing and leadership skills.
- Typing speed of 20 words per minute.
- Effective interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to learn computerized information systems.
- Ability to work within teams and a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with population care, case management, triage, and advice.
- Current or future bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field.
- 2–5 years of critical care experience with adult patients, preferably in PACU.
- 2–5 years of experience providing Conscious Sedation in an outpatient setting.
- 2–5 years of experience in Pain Management injection procedures.
Schedule
- Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Shift: Day (Monday–Friday, 05:45 AM–02:15 PM).
- Worker location: Onsite at Sunnybrook Medical Offices, Clackamas, Oregon.
Pay
$53.28–$79.02 per hour. Kaiser Permanente offers a market-competitive total rewards package, with pay determined by labor market data, internal alignment, and candidate qualifications (e.g., experience, education, certifications, skills, and location).
