About the role
Provide direct nursing care to residents in our Rapid Recovery Unit or Skilled Nursing and supervise day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants in accordance with state and federal standards.

Responsibilities
- Assist in planning resident care by following physician orders
- Implement resident care based on physician orders
- Evaluate care and communicate with doctors for updates of orders
- Administer medication, IV's, give shots, update patient records, provide emotional support, patient education, basic diagnostics, and other patient procedures for residents
- Receive and transcribe orders from attending physicians
- Monitor blood glucose, temperature, and blood pressure when necessary
- Respond to all emergencies
- Schedule doctor's appointments and coordinate transportation for the residents, including scheduling labs and transcribing lab results
- Supervise CNA's and LPNs as Charge Nurse - ensure they are providing resident care based on physician orders and defined care plans
- Complete admission documentation in ECS
- Assist with the evaluation of residents for medical needs/changes
- Enter physician orders into ECS
- Ensure that residents are receiving their medication based on doctor's orders/complete medication pass
- Maintain the medication cart including audit procedures for PRN medication and controlled medicines as defined by the nursing standards
- Perform skin evaluations and skin treatment as required by skin treatment protocols
- Assist patients/residents with Activities of Daily Living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, transferring, ambulating, toileting, and other resident needs
Qualifications
- Must be currently licensed in the State of Florida as a Registered Nurse or Practical Nurse
- Must be CPR Certified
Preferred experience
- One year of long-term care desirable
- Med-Surg, Home Health experience helpful
- Experience working with the elderly, handicapped or developmentally disabled adults preferred
- Will train on-the-job in lieu of above experience
