About the Role
This is a casual, non-benefit eligible position that is not guaranteed any hours but allows you to pick up open shifts. The role is responsible for delivering individualized patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with Ridgeview Medical Center’s Standards of Nursing Care and Practice, the Minnesota Nurse Practice Standards Act, and the ANA Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient health problem needs and develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Provide nursing care and advise/educate patients, family members, and significant others on health maintenance and disease prevention.
- Document and maintain accurate medical records and reports.
- Serve as a patient advocate in seeking appropriate community resources to meet patient needs.
- Interact with and contribute to the professional development of peers, other healthcare providers, and colleagues.
- Demonstrate competencies in the specialty area of Operating Room.
- Adapt to changes within the care environment while maintaining focus on exceptional patient care and positive outcomes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- When functioning as a Charge Nurse:
- Manage the flow of patients through inpatient and/or outpatient departments.
- Assign resources to care for patients and arrange staffing to ensure safe patient care.
- Provide work direction and address issues during the shift.
- Act as a liaison between staff, patients, and physicians.
- Review Physician orders.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current professional nurse licensure in Minnesota or a permit from the Minnesota Board of Nursing if licensed in another state.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

- Effective written and verbal communication in English to complete job functions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR).
- Previous RN experience in Medical/Surgical or Perioperative Nursing.
Pay
Compensation is determined by factors such as the requirements of the position, experience, education, knowledge, skills, location, and internal equity. Pay listed does not include shift, weekend, or other differentials.
