About the Unit

This is a Level 1 trauma center with a fast-paced operating room handling both inpatient and outpatient cases. Specialties include Urology, Gynecology, ENT, and OMFS. The unit features a robust robotic program with 8 DaVinci Xi robots and an SP robot, supporting service lines such as General, Urology, Gynecology, Colorectal, Bariatric, Hepatobiliary, Thoracic, and ENT. It was the first robotic program in Michigan to reach 20,000 robotic surgeries. The Urology, Gynecology, and ENT programs consistently receive national recognition by U.S. News & World Report. The team works collaboratively to provide high-quality, safe, and compassionate care. On-call and weekend requirements are shared among the team.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN), under the ANA scope of practice, utilizes the nursing process framework to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles. Responsibilities include:

  • Assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and discharging patient care
  • Providing quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures
  • Recognizing the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes
  • Partnering with and utilizing patient/family input and goals in planning care
  • Developing teaching strategies for patients and families
  • Documenting education and learning appropriately in the health record

Requirements

  • Associate’s in Nursing (Required)
  • Bachelor’s in Nursing (Required within 5 years)
  • Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination
  • Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license (Required)
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required)
  • 1+ year of acute care RN experience (Preferred)
  • Surgical Technologist experience (Preferred)
