About the role
Under general supervision of the MCI Director, the Oncology Registered Nurse uses the nursing process to safely perform oncology patient care. The registered nurse is responsible for the continuity of care for patients receiving treatment. Provides consultation, patient, family and staff education. Works collaboratively with the radiation oncologist, medical oncologist, referring physicians and other staff members associated with the Mississippi Cancer Institute.
Responsibilities
- Function within the scope of approved policies, procedures and regulations for the department and organization
- Document total care given, review and maintain patient chart
- Assist with accurate and timely entry of patient data, orders and charges into computer system
- Work and relate in a professional non-defensive manner with peers, physicians, administration, patients and visitors
- Adapt to work assignments based on adjustment of daily scheduled appointments and priority needs of patients, medical director or director
Schedule
- Up to 40 hours per week
- Weekend work rotated as needed
