Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care utilizing the nursing process as ordered by physicians to facilitate the effective delivery of patient care.
Job Responsibilities
- Assess, organize, and carry out patient care with consideration to patient age, cultural, and psychosocial factors.
- Assist physicians with patient examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments according to established protocols.
- Administer medications via intramuscular injections and intravenously, including chemotherapy, as directed by physician orders.
- Coincide patient care through the triage of patient telephone calls regarding urgency of appointments, scheduling, and hospital admissions according to established protocols.
- Promote patient wellness by providing educational materials and communicating physician advice and instructions to patients.
- Document all interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed or prescribed, and appropriate medical data in patient medical records according to established protocols.
- Utilize IDX, EMR, and other computer applications to accomplish tasks according to policies and procedures.
- Exercise independent judgment in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field.
Working Relationship
- Work directly with patients and customers.
- Interact with internal customers via telephone or face-to-face communication.
- Communicate with external customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and staff.
- Work frequently with individuals at Director level or above.
Skills Required
- One year of experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Working knowledge of general disease state management processes, bio-psychosocial model, and clinical pathways.
- Proficiency in intramuscular and intravenous medication administration techniques.
- Understanding of nursing principles and protocols.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality.
- Effective assessment and assistance techniques required in the medical examination of patients.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively and efficiently.
- Attention to detail in the examination of clinical and numerical data.
Education Required
- Completion of the basic professional curriculum of a school of nursing as approved and verified by a state board of nursing, holding or entitled to hold a diploma or degree therefrom.
Required Certifications & Licensure
- Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License.
