Trenton OB/Gyn unit includes 6 LDRs, 11 postpartum rooms, 5 Triage beds, 2 NST bays, and 2 ORs.
About Trenton Hospital
This Magnet®-designated facility provides comprehensive medical and surgical care for its patients and is one of four recipients of the Truven Health Advantage Award in the category of Health and Clinical Outcomes. It is home to nine university-affiliated residency programs. The hospital features a Level II trauma center and is nationally recognized for heart, vascular, and pulmonary specialties, along with other specialties such as orthopedics, neurosurgery, and women’s health.
Scope of Work
The RN, under the ANA scope of practice, utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning the plan of care, develops teaching strategies for patient/family, and documents education and learning appropriately in the health record.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge patient care using patient-family centered care principles.
- Provide quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader.
- Partner with patients and families to incorporate their input and goals into the plan of care.
- Develop and document teaching strategies for patient/family education.
Qualifications
- Associate’s in Nursing (Required).
- Bachelor’s in Nursing (Required within 5 years if new graduate/nurse with less than one (1) year of experience).
- Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
- Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license required or within 60 days of hire for new graduates.
- AHA, ARC, or Canadian Heart and Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire/transfer.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification within 6 months of hire/transfer.
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) Certification within 1 year of hire.
- Specialty Certification highly recommended within 2 years.
Preferred Experience
- 2 years of RN Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience.
- Consideration for 2 years of RN experience in Mother Baby, NICU, Pediatrics, or Surgery.
- New graduates with Nurse Tech/Extern/Preceptorship in L&D, Mother Baby Care (MBC), or NICU may be considered.
