About the role

Oneida Health is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) to work night shift (7pm‑7am) in the Hospital Emergency Department (ER). The RN will coordinate patient care, perform nursing services requiring specialized judgment and skills, supervise LPNs and related support nursing staff, and report to a supervisory‑level nursing position. The ideal candidate can work independently as part of a team and remain calm in a high‑pressure environment.

Responsibilities

• Identify what patients need and provide care.
• Work as a team player and supervise other nursing personnel reporting to you.
• Maintain neat records and prepare reports in a timely manner.
• Maintain a clean and healthy environment for patients and staff per quality standards.
• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Exhibit a customer‑service attitude when interacting with patients and families.
• Use organizational skills to manage supplies and equipment.
• Remain calm and professional during crises and emergent situations.
• Demonstrate proficiency with computer skills for electronic records management systems.

Qualifications

Education: Associate of Nursing (required); Bachelor’s of Nursing (preferred).

License: New York RN (required).

Certifications: BLS (preferred).

Experience: Nursing: 2 years (preferred); Emergency Department experience (preferred).

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and move about for extended periods; manual dexterity and fine motor skills for patient care tasks and equipment operation; visual and auditory acuity to assess patient conditions and communicate effectively; stamina to handle the physical demands of emergency nursing, including lifting and positioning patients; ability to remain calm and focused in high‑stress situations.
