RN Nursing Supervisor 3pm to 11pm Monday to Friday

Responsibilities

  • Verifies daily staffing and redistribution, as necessary;
  • Collaborates with all charge nurses daily, to exchange information regarding resident care, resident condition and all matters affecting resident well-being (i.e. admissions, discharges, transfers, out of or within the building), makes recommendations regarding nursing process, and communicates concerns to supervisors of other departments;
  • Makes rounds, morning and night, as time allows, to assess residents condition, giving special attention to critically ill residents;
  • Ensures that the individual nursing care plan is followed for each resident;
  • Performs medication passes and/or direct resident care as needed;
  • Participates in resident care committee meetings;
  • Reinforces the training and orientation of nursing personnel and provides positive reinforcement;
  • Answers any/all emergencies throughout the shift (i.e., change of resident condition or pronouncement of death);
  • Assists in assuring a safe and sanitary environment for residents, employees, and visitors;
  • Assures that the building is secure during the evening and night hours by checking doors and alarms according to nursing facility protocols;
  • Reviews incident and investigative reports for accuracy and completeness;
  • Monitors meal service on the units and in the dining areas to identify issues requiring intervention and to assure resident meal satisfaction and nutritional adequacy;
  • Assists in development and implementation of nursing facility Quality Improvement Program;
  • Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights;
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Requirements

  • The RN Nursing Supervisor must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and must hold a current registration with the professional board of nurse examiners of the State.
  • Experience in the nursing field.
  • Supervisory experience in long term care is required.

Job Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of nursing theory, techniques, and practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of the specialized procedures applied and equipment used in the area to which assigned.
  • Knowledge of dietetic, sanitation, and personal hygiene.
  • Knowledge of medications, their proper dosage, and expected results.
  • Skill in handling and manipulating instruments and equipment.
  • Ability to coordinate and supervise the nursing functions in an effective manner.
  • Ability to maintain an empathetic attitude toward residents and to gain their confidence in order to work with them effectively.
  • Able to understand and follow oral and written instructions of a technical nature.
  • Able to recognize and identify symptoms and to make decisions quickly in emergencies.
  • Able to train subordinates in work procedures and to organize and direct training carried out by members of the staff.
  • Possesses the ability to positively interact with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Provides annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
