RN Nurse Manager, Inpatient General Surgery Unit
About the Role
At Saint Mary's Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Of New England, we are seeking an experienced and engaging Nurse Manager to lead our Inpatient General Surgery Unit and foster a culture of excellence, accountability, professional development, and patient-centered care.
The Nurse Manager is accountable for the leadership, management, and advancement of clinical operations within the Inpatient General Surgery Unit. This leader will oversee daily operations, staff development, quality and patient safety initiatives, resource management, and regulatory compliance while ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care.
The successful candidate will inspire and empower nursing staff, lead through change, promote evidence-based practice, and create an environment where colleagues feel valued, supported, and engaged.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily operations of the General Surgery Unit
- Foster a positive, high-performing team culture
- Drive quality, safety, and patient experience initiatives
- Manage staffing, performance, recruitment, and development
- Support professional growth and accountability across the unit
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut or eligibility to obtain
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- Previous nursing leadership or management experience required

Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or related healthcare leadership degree
- Progressive leadership experience in an acute care hospital setting
- Experience in surgical services, medical-surgical nursing, or inpatient surgical care
