About the Role

As a Registered Nurse at Catholic Medical Center, you’ll coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with departmental requirements and state/specialty scope and standards. Using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage,” you will collaborate with medical providers and the care team to provide individualized, compassionate care. Your role includes serving as a patient/family advocate and supporting the organization’s vision, mission, and values to enhance patient experience and clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare critically ill neonates for procedures such as central line placement or intubation.
  • Monitor vital signs and responses during interventions; assist with post-procedure stabilization and recovery.
  • Observe neonates and equipment (e.g., ventilators, monitors) during care; report changes in condition and document clinical status accurately.
  • Maintain and operate specialized NICU equipment, including incubators, ventilators, and infusion pumps.
  • Ensure proper disinfection and setup of procedure areas in accordance with infection control protocols.
  • Continuously monitor critically ill neonates for early signs of deterioration (respiratory, cardiac, neurological).
  • Respond rapidly to emergencies using NRP protocols; collaborate with the care team and document thoroughly.
  • Prepare families for neonatal discharge by educating on home care, medication administration, feeding plans, and follow-up appointments.
  • Ensure caregivers demonstrate competency in care routines; collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for safe transitions.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
  • Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • 1 year of applicable experience.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (must be obtained within 30 days of employment).
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (must be obtained within 30 days of employment).
