RN - Neuro ICU - Full Time, nights

Erlanger Medical Center is seeking a registered professional nurse to provide direct and/or indirect care to patients in the Neuro Medical, Neuro Surgical Intensive Care Unit (NNICU).

About the Role

The NNICU Nurse must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served. This includes understanding principles of growth and development over the life span, assessing data reflective of the patient's acute or critical status, and responding appropriately to identified information.

A Registered Nurse in this unit must be familiar with medical and post-operative care of acute or critical neuro patients, able to monitor invasive lines such as ICP or ventricular drains, and proficient in neurological exams. The nurse will provide care as needed per the unit's policies and procedures, assess patients, develop and implement plans of care, administer pharmacological drugs as ordered, perform procedures, and operate equipment necessary for patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care in the Neuro Medical, Neuro Surgical Intensive Care Unit.
• Assess, select, develop, implement, and evaluate patient plans of care.
• Administer pharmacological drugs as ordered.
• Perform procedures and operate equipment necessary for patient care.
• Monitor invasive lines such as ICP or ventricular drains.
• Conduct neurological exams and provide care for acute or critical neuro patients.
• Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles across the life span.
• Interpret and respond to patient data reflective of acute or critical status.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing (required).
• Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee (required).
• BLS certification completed prior to going to the unit/department and maintained thereafter (required).
• For non-Tennessee residents, Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in nursing principles and practices, particularly in critical or acute care settings.
• Knowledge of organizational functions, regulations, and current trends in nursing.
