RN - Neonatal ICU - 7p-7:30a

About the role

Join Cleveland Clinic Akron General, a 14-bed, level III NICU that opened November 1, 2024, under Cleveland Clinic oversight. The NICU cares for infants born as young as 22 weeks gestational age up to full term babies who need help transitioning to life outside the womb. Services include full-body cooling, respiratory support, IV nutrition support, high-risk deliveries, and neonatal resuscitations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional care throughout the patient care journey
• Interact directly with patients and their families, offering healthcare education as needed
• Complete admission assessments of maternal and/or infant patients
• Communicate changes in patient condition and patient care/unit issues
• Incorporate patient safety goals and complete all paper and electronic records
• Provide direct nursing care, administer treatments and medication, and document
• Participate in ongoing interdisciplinary evaluation of patient/family outcomes
• Delegate tasks/assignments, serve as a resource person/role model/mentor, pursue ongoing education and specialty certifications, maintain applicable certification/licensure, and obtain any required certifications specific to the unit

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• Completion of Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within six months of hire

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• One year or more of RN experience
• Two years of experience in a Level 3 or 4 NICU
• Two years of experience in a critical care area

Physical Requirements

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range
• Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work

Personal Protective Equipment

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
