RN Navigator Surgery

About the Unit

Taylor OR consists of 6 operating rooms, 1 cysto room, and 2 endo suites. Service lines include orthopedics, sports medicine, podiatry, hands, general surgery, and ophthalmology. The team is comprised of RNs, surgical technologists, and surgical first assistants, as well as surgical support staff to ensure exceptional care for the community and support surgeons and anesthesia providers throughout surgical procedures. On-call shifts are required. No holidays and no Sundays.

Scope of Work

The Nurse Navigator will assess the patient's individual needs and develop a plan of care to meet those needs. This role includes providing education and support to patients, families, staff, and caregivers. The goals of this position include improving patient care and flow, eliminating barriers, and enhancing the overall patient experience by connecting patients and families with appropriate resources and services.

Responsibilities include facilitating an effective process for the new care model; supporting quality patient care, safety, and financial components; promoting integration of a seamless care model; coordinating patient discharge planning for post-acute services, length of stay (LOS) management, and utilization management; collaborating to optimize performance and adoption of best practices. The Nurse Navigator serves as a leader and resource for the healthcare team, integrates new knowledge and evidence-based research into clinical practice, and reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager and/or the Director of Nursing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Nursing Required upon hire
• Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license Required
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
• 3+ years of acute care RN experience preferred
• OR RN experience preferred
