About the Role
Under general supervision, the Staff RN provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures. In collaboration with the patient, patient’s family, and other members of the health care team, the clinical RN assesses nursing care needs, plans interventions, and evaluates outcomes of care. The RN provides direct care and/or supervises nursing care of non-licensed nursing staff. The RN is responsible for care consistent with the Nursing Department’s policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
RNs provide care appropriate to the age-specific (infant, adolescent, and adult patients), developmental, and safety needs of the assigned patient population. The role includes charge duties: the charge nurse makes patient assignments and supervises staff and unit activities for the assigned shift.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. If hired after 6/1/12, BSN required within 24 months of hire into RN position.
- Couplet Care experience required.
- Current RN license in the State of Texas or compact license.
- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS provider card.
- NRP required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
- STABLE required within 60 days of hire or transfer.
