About the Role
Piedmont Athens Regional, a primary Stroke center and DNV Stroke Certified Neuro Science floor, is seeking a full-time night-shift Med Surg nurse for its 30-bed acute care Neuroscience unit. This fast-paced inpatient unit specializes in Stroke, spinal injuries, head injuries, and pre- and post-op surgical needs. The nursing staff are NIHSS-assessment certified and attend the Georgia stroke class curriculum.
The Neuroscience team is supported by a Stroke Coordinator, PT/OT, Respiratory Therapy, Physicians, Case Management, Social Work, Secretary, Phlebotomy, lift team, IV team, STAT team, and Pharmacy. A comprehensive orientation pairs new and experienced staff with a qualified preceptor for goal-setting and training.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle using nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care.
- Function within the framework of organizational policies and procedures, demonstrating professional growth and accountability.
- Maintain standards of practice and coordinate patient care activities of all assigned staff to ensure quality nursing care.
- Patient ratios are determined by volume and acuity; extenuating circumstances may adjust ratios.
Requirements
- Current Georgia RN license or NLC/eNLC Multistate License.
- BLS certification required.
- Graduate of a nursing program (new graduates eligible).
Qualifications
- Nursing experience in a hospital setting preferred (required for PRN positions).
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Advanced certification in specialty, if applicable.
