Banner Churchill Community Hospital is a 25-bed licensed hospital offering the most comprehensive array of medical services in rural northern Nevada. We provide comprehensive and emergency care, including an ambulance service that covers more than 5,900 square miles. This makes us one of only two hospital-operated paramedic/EMT/EMS providers in northern Nevada. About the role

This per diem Registered Nurse position works in the MedSurg and L&D departments in Fallon, Nevada. This position does not have guaranteed hours or benefits.

Shifts available: Night (1900-0730) and Day (0700-1930).

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs.
  • Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family and ensures completion within appropriate timeframe.
  • Reviews available information obtained by other health care team members, diagnostics, and laboratory data; reports abnormal results to physicians and appropriate caregivers.
  • Completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need and policy.
  • Formulates a plan of care, including discharge planning, utilizing assessment data and input from patient, family, and health team.
  • Initiates a plan of care based on patient-specific needs, assessment data, and the medical plan of care; ensures goals are realistic and measurable.
  • Considers physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age-specific, and educational needs in the plan of care.
  • Plans care in collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary team; reviews and revises the plan to reflect changing patient needs.
  • Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of health care team activities.
  • Provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, in compliance with policies, procedures, standards of care, and regulatory requirements.
  • Delegates appropriately and provides nursing supervision for care provided by other licensed nurses and personnel.
  • Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating patient status to other caregivers.
  • Evaluates patient and family response to care and teaching; revises the plan of care as needed.
  • Evaluates patient progress toward goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with the health care team.
  • Documents assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record; ensures documentation is legible, timely, and reflects objective/subjective data, interventions, and patient response.
  • Provides care based on best evidence available and may participate in research activities within clinical practice.
  • Participates in unit or facility shared leadership, education, role development, and orientation of personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors.
  • Promotes and supports growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate.
  • Contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care.
  • Actively participates in improving national nursing quality indicators and outcomes, including participation in professional organizations.
  • Interacts with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts to report or clarify information.
  • Synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources to support patient and family responses to health status changes.

Requirements

  • Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.
  • Experience in the clinical area for which applying is desired; must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area.
  • Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require a minimum of one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting within the past 12 months in the specialty area.
  • Banner Registry and Travel physician practice positions require a minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a physician practice or acute care setting.
  • For Home Health settings, must be able to operate a personal vehicle with a valid driver’s license and active auto insurance.
  • For Behavioral Health clinical settings serving children in Arizona, must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at hire and maintain it for employment duration; an Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.
  • For BUMCS Behavioral Health clinical settings, must possess and maintain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • For Banner Home Care AZ, must possess and maintain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • For Banner Staffing (BSS) Behavioral Health roles in Arizona, must possess and maintain a State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Professional certification preferred.
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
