Job Description

The Registered Nurse (Hospital-Based) provides nursing care to patients, conducting systematic assessments, administering medications, planning care, and teaching patients and families. They collaborate with the healthcare team and prioritize patient safety.

Essential Functions

• Conducts systematic, continuous, and comprehensive assessments of patient health status.
• Administers medications per licensure authority and documents administration accurately.
• Plans care using current scientific knowledge and incorporates data from the multi-disciplinary care team.
• Identifies and prioritizes patient problems, reflecting sensitivity to age, learning needs, and cultural background.
• Assesses, conducts, and evaluates the outcomes of patient and family teaching.
• Evaluates care by reviewing patient responses and revising the plan of care with the care team.
• Advocates for the patient and family, ensuring their rights, responsibilities, and preferences are respected.
• Prepares patients and families for discharge and seeks feedback to improve patient satisfaction.

Shift Requirements

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• # of Shifts per Week: 3
• Overtime: Infrequently

Shifts

Nights: 7P - 7A

Education

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program (required)
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program (preferred)

Experience

• Two years of hospital patient care experience (preferred)
• All new RN graduates participate in the Nurse Residency program and must successfully complete all activities (required)

Licenses & Certifications

• Current KY RN licensure or compact license with privileges to work in Kentucky (required)
• Basic Life Saving (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (required)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (may be required for specific clinical areas)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (may be required for specific clinical areas)
