Join something new and exciting! Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Waxahachie is expanding and launching our 4 East unit, a dynamic Med Surg/Telemetry Trauma floor designed to support our growing community and deliver exceptional patient care.

Position Highlights

  • Unit: 4 East – Med Surg/Telemetry Trauma
  • Shift: Nights (3x12-hour shifts)
  • Setting: Inpatient Acute Care
  • Schedule: Full-time

About The Role

As an RN on our new 4 East unit, you will play a key role in shaping a collaborative, high-quality patient care environment from the ground up. This unit will care for a diverse patient population requiring medical-surgical and telemetry monitoring, with a focus on trauma-related care.

Requirements

  • Inpatient acute care Med Surg experience
  • Current RN licensure
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Passion for teamwork and patient-centered care

Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include:

  • Patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses.
  • Securing patient travel and addressing patient needs in healthcare.
  • Helping patients and preventing issues.
  • Following the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegating tasks based on condition and team competencies.
  • Conducting detailed clinical assessments and prioritizing patient and family needs.
  • Creating, implementing, and evaluating care plans, adjusting plans to reach desired outcomes.
  • Building relationships, managing discomfort, and maintaining professionalism in therapeutic connections with patients and families.
  • Creating care plans reflecting values to aid in resolving issues.
  • Educating patients, families, nurses, and community members to empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices.
  • Assessing and documenting learning needs regularly.
  • Working with colleagues and the community to create a care plan.
  • Delegating tasks carefully and following up promptly.
  • Using different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff.
  • Recognizing limitations and prioritizing safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
  • Achieving goals through teamwork, recognizing contributions, committing to growth, and contributing to peers' development.
  • Showing community service commitment.

Skills

  • A deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.
  • Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area.
  • Understanding of hospital procedures and rules.
  • Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common meds, and their side effects.
  • Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
  • Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing.
  • Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking.
  • Basic computer skills, encompassing areas such as Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an Accredited Program in Nursing
  • RN license
  • Must have BLS certification or get it within 30 days of starting in this role
