RN - Med/Surg & Oncology
About the role
Join Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital, a Magnet Hospital awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and provide stellar care on the Parkview I Oncology and Women’s Health nursing unit. This unit focuses on Oncology, emphasizes women's health and surgery, and delivers comprehensive care for adults with medical and surgical diagnoses. As an RN, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering healthcare education and enhancing their experience throughout the patient care journey.
Schedule
This is a regular PRN position with a day/night rotation between 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m., including weekend requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patients’ conditions.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
- Maintain professional growth and development through ongoing formal and informal education and clinical nursing study.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN, or BSN program).
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
- External applicants: two years of recent related nursing experience.
- Internal applicants: less than two years of experience, but post-orientation/90-day probationary period considered with Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval.
- Military RN experience considered.
- Obtain chemotherapy competency within the first six months, with additional training in end-of-life care and intravenous therapy (IV).
- ONS Chemo/Bio course within two years of hire if employed on units where chemo is administered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Physical Requirements
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical demand requirements exceed those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay
The pay range for new hires is $43.00 per hour. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined based on work history, experience, skill set, and education. This range does not include applicable pay practices such as shift differentials or overtime, nor does it reflect the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package.
