RN – Med/Surg & Oncology
About the role
Join Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital, a Magnet Hospital awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and provide stellar care on the Parkview I Oncology and Women’s Health nursing unit. This unit focuses on Oncology, emphasizes women's health and surgery, and delivers comprehensive care for adults with medical and surgical diagnoses. As an RN, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering exceptional care and healthcare education throughout the patient care journey.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patients’ conditions.
- Evaluate, update, and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
- Educate patients and families using educational materials, considering cultural issues and other special concerns.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing protocol.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN, or BSN program).
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
- ONS Chemo/Bio course within two years of hire if employed on units where chemo is administered.
- Chemotherapy competency within the first six months, with additional training in end-of-life care and intravenous therapy (IV).
- Any registered nurse or advanced practice nurse must obtain a cancer-specific certification or demonstrate ongoing qualifying education within the timeframe of the facility’s accreditation cycle if working in medical oncology, radiation oncology, cancer center or cancer clinic and/or administer chemotherapy within an accredited Cleveland Clinic facility.
- One year of current acute care RN experience OR licensed military RN experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Physical Requirements
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Schedule
Day/night rotation from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m., with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements.
Pay
Pay range for new hires: $35.50 – $55.60 per hour. The actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education. This range does not include shift differentials, overtime, or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package.
