Responsibilities
- Practice guided by the ANA Standard for Professional Nurse and Code of Ethics.
- Record patients' medical history and symptoms, perform diagnostic tests, analyze results, operate medical equipment, administer treatment and medications, and assist with patient follow-up and rehabilitation.
- Establish or contribute to care plans, including administering medication, managing IV lines, providing therapies, observing and recording patient conditions, and consulting with physicians and other healthcare clinicians.
- Teach patients and families about managing illnesses or injuries, post-treatment and home care needs, diet, nutrition, exercise programs, and self-administration of medication and therapy.
- Provide direction to licensed practical nurses and nursing aides regarding patient care and delegate tasks appropriately.
- Support efforts to advance clinical knowledge and skills, precept new hires and students, and assist in completing competency skills.
- Collect health data systematically, prioritize based on patient needs, and involve family in the process.
- Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses and develop individualized, evidence-based care plans that are family-centered and culturally relevant.
- Identify expected outcomes and implement interventions in the plan of care, including treatments, medications, and emergency measures.
- Provide nursing care to meet physical, emotional, spiritual, and social-cultural needs using a family-centered approach.
- Evaluate patient progress toward outcomes and document observations, interventions, and monitoring data.
- Continuously evaluate the quality and effectiveness of care plans to enhance patient outcomes and cost-effective healthcare delivery.
- Evaluate personal nursing practice against professional standards, statutes, and policies, maintaining current knowledge in nursing practice.
- Integrate ethical principles into all aspects of practice and enhance cultural competency for specific populations.
- Collaborate with peers and other healthcare providers to foster professional development and quality practice environments.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care delivery.
- Develop and evaluate evidence-based standards of care and participate in research to improve nursing practice and patient outcomes.
- Consider factors related to safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning and delivering patient care, utilizing resources efficiently.
Requirements
- Associates or Diploma in Nursing (ADN hires must complete a BSN within 60 months of hire or have 5+ years of RN experience).
- Bachelor’s in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- 1+ year of RN experience required for Float Positions; >10 months in med-surg or acute specialty setting required.
- State and/or Compact State Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Arizona upon hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Unit-specific certification as required by specialty area.
- National certification for unit-specific patient population preferred.
Schedule
Night shift: 1900–0730, 3x12 (three 12-hour shifts per week).
