Registered Nurses in the Med/Surg unit are essential for delivering direct and indirect care to patients across various departments, including post-surgical and rehabilitative settings. They collaborate closely with physicians, other nurses, and healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care and adherence to treatment plans. Challenges include handling a diverse patient population and rapidly changing conditions, requiring strong adaptability and problem-solving skills. Nurses also lead and mentor nursing staff, promoting high standards and teamwork in pursuing the facility's healthcare goals. The role requires maintaining detailed medical records, updating patient statuses, and implementing prescribed healthcare interventions diligently.
About The Med/Surg Department
The Heart of Hospital Care In the Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) Department at CRMC, we provide expert, compassionate care for a diverse range of patients. As the largest department in the hospital, our nurses and clinical staff are highly skilled in managing complex medical conditions, surgical recovery, pain management, and patient education, ensuring that every individual receives personalized, high-quality care throughout their hospital stay. Our team balances clinical expertise with adaptability, caring for a variety of medical needs while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety, comfort, and recovery. Whether responding to changing patient conditions, collaborating with specialists, or helping patients regain independence before discharge, Med/Surg professionals play a critical role in the healing process. Our unit thrives on teamwork, continuous learning, and a shared commitment to delivering exceptional care.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience Required:
- American Heart Association ACLS certificate within 4 months of hire
- American Heart Association BLS certification required within 30 days of hire
- Current Minnesota RN License
- For Charge RN: NRP within 4 months of hire, Inhouse Trauma Training that meets state approved criteria within one year of hire, PALS within 1 year of hire
- Preferred: Previous experience in acute care setting
