About The Unit
5 South medical unit consists of 33 head walls, all rooms are shared except for one negative pressure equipped room and two single rooms for privacy. Average census ranges from 29 to 32 patients. Video monitoring system tracks frequent safety checks, and telemetry capability is available. Patient and family centered care is emphasized, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams. Peritoneal dialysis is performed by certified staff.

Scope of Work
The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process to provide professional care, incorporating patient-centered care principles. They work under the direction of the Nurse Leader, adhering to Corewell Health policies and procedures. The RN collaborates with patients and families, developing teaching strategies, and documenting education in the health record.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Nursing required
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required within 5 years
- Graduates from non-accredited schools must have at least 1 year of acute care experience or 2 years of licensed health care experience and pass the NCLEX
- Registered Nurse (RN) required
- American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation Basic Life Support (BLS) required
