RN Manager - Registered Nurse Manager - Behavioral Health - Days
About the Role
This RN Manager Behavioral Health role leads and oversees the clinical and operational aspects of the behavioral health department at UAB St. Vincent’s East, ensuring quality care, staff development, and adherence to regulations. The role may involve direct patient care, particularly in crisis or high-risk settings, and focuses on providing a safe and effective environment for patients and staff.
Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise a team of behavioral health professionals, including nursing, therapists, counselors, and mental health technicians.
- Develop and implement behavioral health programs, ensuring they align with organizational goals and patient needs.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements for self and within the unit(s).
- Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care services for the assigned unit(s).
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to guarantee efficient and effective delivery of health services in the unit(s).
- Develop and maintain quality monitoring systems for the assigned unit(s).
- Manage budgets, schedules, and other operational aspects of the department.
- Monitor and adhere to budget; approve or monitor expenditures, purchases, and other actions to ensure compliance with budget guidelines.
- Ensure a high level of associate, patient, and physician satisfaction.
- Conduct hiring, training, directing, counseling, development, and evaluating of staff.
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers, community agencies, and stakeholders to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- BLS Provider certification obtained within 1 month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
- Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing program and professional licensure/certification.
- Three years of experience and 1 year of cumulative leadership experience.

Schedule
- Full-Time Days, Monday - Friday.
- 5 eight-hour shifts per week, 7:00 am - 3:00 pm.

Our Behavioral Health services at UAB St. Vincent’s East include 80 beds for adult and geriatric patients with acute and chronic mental health needs.
