Essential Job Functions
- Captures patient health data and prioritizes based on immediate condition.
- Conducts comprehensive physical and psychosocial assessments involving patient, significant others, and healthcare providers.
- Performs screenings and ensures triggers are completed.
- Identifies and coordinates further assessments as needed.
- Documents assessments in the medical record.
- Analyzes assessments to identify nursing diagnoses and expected outcomes.
- Determines nursing diagnoses and identifies patient outcomes based on conditions.
- Prioritizes outcomes and documents them in the medical record.
- Triage assessments and follows department guidelines and policies.
- Assesses patients across all age groups proficiently.
- Formulates an individualized interdisciplinary plan of care.
- Updates the plan of care as patient conditions change.
- Implements interventions from the plan of care.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to deliver care.
- Maintains patient rights and ensures timely treatments and medications.
- Delegates tasks appropriately and maintains oversight.
- Provides patient education and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team for discharge planning.
- Documents treatments, medications, patient/family education, and ongoing assessments.
- Evaluates patient progress and revises care plans as necessary.
- Performs ongoing and systematic fetal/maternal, maternal/newborn, and gynecological assessments.
- Intervenes appropriately for infant security according to department protocols.
Experience
- Required: None
- Preferred:
- RN I – 1 year of nursing experience
- RN II & III – 3 years of nursing experience
Education
- Required: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 1 year
- Preferred: Electronic Fetal Monitoring Course
Certifications & Licensure
- Required: Current Louisiana RN licensure
- Preferred: Inpatient Obstetrics Certification, High-risk Obstetrics Certification
