Job Summary
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality obstetric nursing care to labor and delivery patients.
- Monitor maternal and fetal status, interpret data, and escalate concerns promptly.
- Administer medications and interventions per protocols and physician orders.
- Document care and maintain accurate, timely patient records in the EHR.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to develop and update birth plans.
- Educate patients and families about labor, delivery, and postnatal care.
- Maintain safety and infection control standards in line with hospital policies.
- Analyze unit metrics and contribute to process improvements to meet targets.
- Assess and manage pain with safe, evidence-based strategies.
- Mentor and onboard new staff, supporting professional development goals.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with state obstetric/gynecology privileges and current licensure.
- Valid RN license with Labor & Delivery or perinatal specialty certification (e.g., CNL, CNML).
- Minimum 2–4 years of labor and delivery nursing experience in a high-acuity setting.
- Proficiency in fetal monitoring interpretation and escalation per protocol.
- Ability to lead emergency obstetric interventions and rapid decision-making.
- Strong EHR documentation skills; experience with hospital information systems (e.g., Epic).
- Infection control compliance and patient safety certification (e.g., ACLS, PALS as applicable).
- Performance-driven mindset with data-driven approach to meet unit targets and metrics.
- B.S.N. preferred; A.D.N. considered with acute L&D experience plus demonstrated growth.
- Ability to mentor, onboard new staff, and contribute to professional development.
