Job Summary
Performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act
Uses therapeutic communication in daily practice
Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment
Plans, implements and directs care using the nursing process with emphasis on the needs of the individual patient
Provides emotional support of the patient and significant others to make informed choices regarding healthcare
Promotes an environment that treats patients and families with dignity, respect and appreciation of their lifestyle, religion and culture
Maintains quality, age-specific care for newborn, pediatric, adolescent and adult patients as assigned
Proactively advocates for patients and consistently educates patients/families throughout the continuum of care
Delegates tasks to the appropriate level of staff
Provides supervision of new employees, vocational nurses, nurse assistants, student nurses, nurse externs/interns
Qualifications
- 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
- Registered Nurse in the state of Texas or compact state license
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing
