Job Responsibilities and Requirements
- Performs on the Cath Lab procedure team as circulator, scrub, or monitor.
- Ensures patient is correctly prepped for the procedure.
- Timely administration of medications to all patients, including critically ill patients.
- Analyzes patient assessment and reports abnormal information to the physician promptly.
- Safely performs hemostasis with or without vascular devices.
- Routinely enters and checks charges for accuracy.
- Carefully educates patients and families based on their assessed needs.
- Provides clear instructions to patients about the perioperative procedure.
- Aids family members to the cardiology area or Cath lab area as needed.
- May perform point of care testing as per policies and procedures.
- Works continuously in a state of alertness and safety.
Education and Experience
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or equivalent for licensing.
- No prior experience required.
Physical Requirements
- Constant use of speech for oral communication.
- Constant standing and walking.
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard use/data entry.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far.
- Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
- Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds, and hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Occasional driving.
- Rare crawling and running.
Professional License and/or Certifications
- Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) - American Heart Association (AHA) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Registered Nurse (RN) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) - American Heart Association (AHA) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Registered Nurse (RN) - Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN)
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) - American Heart Association (AHA) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
