Job Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Performs on the Cath Lab procedure team as circulator, scrub, or monitor.
  • Ensures patient is correctly prepped for the procedure.
  • Timely administration of medications to all patients, including critically ill patients.
  • Analyzes patient assessment and reports abnormal information to the physician promptly.
  • Safely performs hemostasis with or without vascular devices.
  • Routinely enters and checks charges for accuracy.
  • Carefully educates patients and families based on their assessed needs.
  • Provides clear instructions to patients about the perioperative procedure.
  • Aids family members to the cardiology area or Cath lab area as needed.
  • May perform point of care testing as per policies and procedures.
  • Works continuously in a state of alertness and safety.

Education and Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or equivalent for licensing.
  • No prior experience required.

Physical Requirements

  • Constant use of speech for oral communication.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far.
  • Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
  • Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds, and hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional driving.
  • Rare crawling and running.

Professional License and/or Certifications

  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) - American Heart Association (AHA) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) - American Heart Association (AHA) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN)
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) - American Heart Association (AHA) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) - American Heart Association (AHA) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
