Full-time, day shift position (Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5pm) in Arkansas Children's Pediatrics.

About the role

Provides a competent level of nursing practice to autonomously deliver safe and effective patient and family-centered care. Uses knowledge, skill, and experience to analyze, think critically, plan, prioritize, and organize care, make appropriate clinical judgments, and efficiently manage routine and unexpected clinical situations.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a competent level of understanding and application of the AC Model of Patient and Family-Centered care, addressing physical, psychosocial, and educational needs of the patient and family.
  • Consistently provides safe and effective nursing care at a competent level in accordance with policies, procedures, professional practice standards, and state Practice Act/Rules and Regulations.
  • Demonstrates competent technical and procedural nursing skills.
  • Communicates and collaborates through meaningful clinical documentation, completes hand-offs, and participates in rounds and team meetings to assure continuity of care and desired patient outcomes.
  • Competently assesses patients and provides developmentally appropriate and culturally sensitive care, incorporating diversional, play, or recreational activities as needed.
  • Analyzes information to identify problems and outcomes, evaluates variations and patterns in patient/family data, and recognizes implications for care.
  • Develops, maintains, and applies the plan of care in collaboration with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Identifies and competently and promptly responds to changes in patient condition.
  • Provides individualized patient and family education at competent levels, assessing learning needs and developing appropriate education plans.
  • Consistently documents all patient and family education activities and facilitates comprehensive interdisciplinary teaching.
  • Advances evidence-based nursing practice using best available evidence, patient and family preferences and values, and team's clinical expertise at a competent level.
  • Successfully searches for and applies evidence to guide clinical practice.
  • Exemplifies and supports the AC Professional Practice Model.
  • Evaluates own performance to identify areas of strength and needs for professional development, and provides input for peer evaluations.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary shared decision-making activities.
  • Actively contributes to the improvement of patient care, nursing practice, and the work environment by identifying areas of improvement, evaluating and implementing new equipment, products, and technology.
  • Initiates advocacy actions for patients, families, and the AC team as needed to ensure quality patient care.
  • Participates in councils, committees, task forces, hospital initiatives, onboarding, recruitment, and retention activities.
  • Successfully guides individuals, groups, and activities to achieve patient goals and positive outcomes.
  • Participates in community activities that promote health and wellness.
  • Competently mentors, coaches, and teaches healthcare professionals and students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college program, technical school, or nursing diploma.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arkansas or a Compact State.

Qualifications

  • One of the following:
    • Required: 1 year of nursing experience.
    • Recommended for internal employees: Demonstrated performance of 100% at the previous level and score within documented RN II/III levels via ACHieve career ladder.
  • Recommended:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
    • Certification specific to patient population.

This position is designated as safety-sensitive and cannot be filled by a candidate who is a current user of medical marijuana. Flu vaccines are required. Arkansas Children's is a tobacco-free workplace.
