13-week contract position in Baton Rouge, LA (70816) on night shifts (12 hours, 3 days per week).

Responsibilities

  • Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy, method of introduction, adapting explanations, requesting permissions, and communication style.
  • Effectively use the Nursing Process in the delivery of patient care.
  • Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies appropriate for diverse patient, family, and interdisciplinary groups.
  • Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly; serve as a leader and partner on the Interdisciplinary Team.
  • Utilize data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change for optimal outcomes.
  • Embrace concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction, employee morale, and improvement in the nursing profession.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred).
  • 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse with ICU experience.
  • Current RN License in the state of practice.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification (12-month blue card from Crisis Prevention Institute).
  • EPIC documentation experience.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Demonstrated good judgment and strong interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in a clinical specialty area.

Physical and Environmental Demands

  • Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 25 to 50 pounds frequently, and 10 to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
  • Routine exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue in a patient care area.
  • Occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous medications, or hazardous waste.
