About the Role

The House Supervisor is a highly skilled Registered Nurse that manages healthcare team members across all hospital-wide functions during a designated shift. The House Supervisor participates as an active member of the nursing management team and assumes authority to manage all activities and personnel when called upon.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a clinical resource to staff and lead others with self-direction.
  • Assume responsibility for supervision and coordination of all house-wide functions during the designated shift.
  • Make decisions regarding patient care and staff management using established policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with preceptors and new employees to facilitate their integration into the team.
  • Assess the need for and assist in creating and implementing staff development programs to enhance professional growth.
  • Facilitate ongoing performance improvement activities aligned with the Hospital-wide Performance Improvement Program.
  • Make assignments for the present or following shift to ensure smooth transitions and appropriate coverage for changing patient needs and staff availability.

Requirements

  • Current Alaska nursing license in good standing.
  • Minimum of two (2) years RN experience; three (3) years preferred.
  • Leadership and management experience is highly desirable.
  • Associate’s Degree in nursing required; BSN preferred.
  • Basic Rhythm interpretation class required within six months of hire.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) certification.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support (ALS or ACLS) certification.
