RN House Supervisor - (Part-Time Weekend Days Sat/Sun)

About the role

This part-time House Supervisor position oversees administrative supervision of nursing services on the assigned shift, ensuring continuity of patient care. The role integrates company values into daily practice and is part of the hospital's nursing leadership team.

Schedule

24 hours per week, Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 am – 7:00 pm.

Pay

$50 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Provides overall supervision of staff, tasks, and workflow on hospital units during assigned shift.
• Assigns work and ensures timeliness and quality of work performed.
• Coordinates patient care on assigned shift.
• Ensures proper shift staffing by evaluating census, acuity, skill level, and staff availability.
• Manages attendance, including absences, tardies, and call-offs; responsible for finding staff to cover open shifts.
• Collaborates on hiring, training, development, investigations, performance assessments, and retention of staff; participates in or initiates counseling and disciplinary actions.
• Assists with orientation and development of new staff, including agency personnel.
• Provides feedback and advice to Nurse Manager/DNO regarding department operations, workflow issues, process improvements, and staff morale trends.
• Assists with direct patient care during high-volume periods and accepts patient assignments as needed.
• Participates in quality and compliance initiatives, including audits, data analysis, and follow-up.
• Leads during incidents and urgent situations, including critique, root cause analysis, and incident reporting.
• May be required to work during inclement weather and staffing emergencies.
• Ensures a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff; assesses safety risks and implements precautions.
• Complies with approved safety standards and completes required training.
• Performs other duties as assigned to support department effectiveness.

Requirements

• One (1) year of recent nursing supervisory experience in a charge nurse role.
• Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing preferred.
• Experience in an acute care setting preferred.
• Experience in a rehabilitation setting preferred.
• Current state Registered Nurse license.
• Current BLS Certification.
• ACLS certification required in Texas; preferred in all other states.

Skills

• Knowledge of current nursing theory and practice, infection prevention, and wound care standards.
• Knowledge of accreditation standards (TJC, CMS) and clinical operations.
• Proficiency in general computer skills, including data entry, word processing, email, and records management.
• Critical thinking and effective organizational and time management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and complete complex tasks.
• Ability to maintain quality, safety, and infection prevention standards.
• Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.

Physical Requirements

• A significant amount of standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling, often for prolonged periods.
• Both gross and precise motor functions.
• Lifting/exerting up to 50 lbs.
• Possible exposure to bodily fluids.
• Visual acuity required for patient assessment and documentation.
• Acute hearing required for accurate patient assessment.
• Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboards.
• Ability to hear overhead pages.
